Hellchick + Games

Years ago I was a college student getting my degree in astronomy and astrophysics. My career track changed a bit and instead of going on to graduate school to get my Ph.D. I got my bachelor’s desgree in astrophysics and then went into the game industry.

I work for Uber Entertainment, a game developer in Kirkland, Washington. I’m a GUI designer, which means I work on the interfaces for the games we make. Prior to that I worked for Raven Software as a technical artist, doing mostly UI work but occasionally working on some special effects, and then at Gas Powered Games.

Before that I was an online marketing consultant for Activision, one of the largest video game publishers in the industry. I handled online marketing and relations for the hardcore titles — games like id Software’s DOOM 3 and Return to Castle Wolfenstein and Raven Software’s Soldier of Fortune series. Prior to becoming a consultant for Activision, I worked for GameSpy as the director of their largest web site (PlanetQuake) and then as the action genre producer. I’m also a contributing author on The gmax Bible.

But aside from my work, games are also my hobby.

Hellchick + Models

Paul Steed (formerly of id Software) and Kenneth Scott (still at id Software) both took the time to create an original Quake III “Hellchick” model for me. doc rob did the animations for her, and you can check her out at doc rob’s site.

Shortly after we finished Quake 4 at Raven, artist and friend Paul Richards decided to concept a Quake 4 version of the Hellchick model and called her Hellchick 2.0 — his concept sketches are available at his site. She’s bad ass, isn’t she? Many community modelers are taking a stab at her but the best version of her so far is by my good friend Derrick Hammond, the modeler who Paul originally did the concept sketch for. I can’t wait to see her when she’s finished! More updates to follow.
